Elvira Hintay Matro

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Elvira “Elvie” Matro, aged 72 on December 11, 2023, embraced by the grace of the Lord and surrounded by loved ones at Cottage Hospice in Vancouver.

Born on April 27, 1951 in Naic Cavite, Philippines. Elvira was the beloved daughter of Crispulo and Corazon Hintay. She was baptized in the sacrament of Baptism at Immaculate Conception Parish, marking the commencement of a life guided by faith.

Elvira was preceded in death by her parents, Corazon and Crispulo Hintay, as well as Pacifico Hintay eldest brother and Rowena Hintay sister in law.

She is survived by her loving husband, Jun Matro, sisters Merly and Alina, and brothers Saturno, Bayani, Macario, Renato, Julio, Gerardo, Joseph and Jesse. Elvira also leaves behind niece Jocelyn Hintay, nephews Mitchell Jarvis, Russel Jarvis, and great-nephew Alexander Misner whom she has raised, along with a host of other family members and friends.

Elvira Matro will be remembered as a “Pillar” of the Hintay family, recognized for her profound kindness and unwavering selflessness.

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on December 22 at 11am at Our Lady of Assumption Parish followed by a reception. Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating Elvira’s life and sharing cherished memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Kidney Foundation in Elvira Matro’s honour, continuing her legacy of compassion.
